Thanks to Our Supporters!


The first part of the16th Commemoration Day of Ferdowsi is in English and after a break we continue with the Persian section of the programme.


Friends of Shahnameh is grateful for the past and present support of Ward Flexibility, academics, writers and local support & cultural groups.

Thanks also to everyone who attends our events or visits our website Friends of Shahnameh.


This year’s program includes:

  • Talk in Farsi by Dr. Mahmoud Kavir (The Rite of Kingship in the Shahnameh: Iraj, KayKhosrow, Bahram and Siavash)

  • Talk in Farsi by Dr. Soraya Faili Zand (Blood on Blood: The Shahnameh and the Cycle of Revenge)

  • Talk in English by Parvin Emampoor from Yaran, (Mental Health)

  • Storytelling in Farsi by Rahim Rahimzadeh and Dr. Shahireh Sharif (A Glimpse of Negotiation in the Shahnameh)

  • Talk in English by Sama Soltani (A Visual Analysis of the Image of Keyumars from the Tahmasbi)

  • A Santur performance by Dr. Atefeh Einali

  • Book exhibition for buying straight from authors and exchanging book


If you haven’t managed to reserve a place yet, please add your name to the waiting list and keep an eye on your email in case more tickets become available.

This is the 16th year that we get together for the Commemoration Day of Ferdowsi. Getting together while we are worried about our loved ones back home may not seem wise at first, but engaging in cultural events can strengthen our resilience and support one another during difficult times. We hope that engaging in cultural activities fosters a sense of connection and belonging, reminding individuals that they are not alone. Cultural activities offer emotional relief and stability which strengthen resilience and help communities cope more effectively with worry and stress.


امسال در حالی به بزرگداشت فردوسی فکر می‌کنیم که اوضاع ایران بس نابسامان است. شاید در این موقعیت یکی ازکارهای مهمی که می‌توانیم انجام دهیم، پرداختن به کارهای فرهنگی است. چرا که حس ارتباط و تعلق می‌تواند یادآور آن باشد که تنها نیستیم و می‌توانیم با نگرانی و استرس به‌طور مؤثرتری مقابله کنیم. در همین راستا با قلبی آکنده از نگرانی و امید از شما دعوت می‌نماییم تا در شانزدهمین بزرگداشت فردوسی کنار دکتر محمود کویر و دوستان شاهنامه باشید.
