Since 2011 and by forming Friends of Shahnameh group we aimed to bring Shahnameh to children, specially second generation migrants. Through a collaboration with Sheba Arts at the Haideh and Nejad project this opportunity became available.
Saturday 9th March the first session took part. Thanks to Atusa for facilitating the workshop on behalf of Friends of Shahnameh. During the first session children were introduced to one another in a fun way. They got to know the map of Iran and the diversity of Iranians living in Iran. We had an introduction to who Ferdowsi was, and what Shahnameh and zoorkoneh are. Children were also introduced to Haideh and Nejad’s legacy.
We are looking forward to this Saturday's session where we will be reminded about the map of Iran and diversity of Iranians, Ferdowsi, zoorkoneh and Haideh and Nejad’s legacy. We talk about Nowruz and try some of zoorkhoneh and some of Haideh’s dance moves. In our story session, the story of Bijan and Manijeh as an example of one of the stories of Shahnameh will be told. A summary of poems is also provided for older children for reference.
Children discussed the importance of being just and truthful and were practices reading the following stanza from Shahnameh.
اگر پیشه دارد دلت راستی
چنان دان که گیتی بیاراستی
Agar pishe darad delat rasti
Chenan dan ke giti beyarasti
By being just and truthful
the world would be a beautiful place
یکی از اهداف تشکیل گروه دوستان شاهنامه، آموزش شاهنامه به کودکان و نوجوانان، بخصوص نسل دومی که خارج از ایران زندگی می‌کنند، بود. همکاری با گروه هنر شیبا در منچستر و شرکت در پروژه هنری هایده و نژاد چنین موقعیتی را فراهم آورد. شنبه 9 مارس اولین جلسه این کلاس‌ها با برگزار شد.
در طی اولین جلسه که آتوسا جان مدیریت آن را از جانب گروه شاهنامه برعهده داشت بچه‌ها با یکدیگر بیشتر آشنا شدند. همچنین این جلسه موقعیتی بود برای آشنایی با نقشه ایران و اقوام مختلفی که جمعیت ایران را تشکیل می‌دهند. معرفی فردوسی، شاهنامه، زورخانه و هایده و نژاد هم در برنامه‌ی اولین جلسه گنجانده شده بود.
مشتاقانه منتظر جلسه اینده و دیدار با بچه‌ها و والدین آنها هستیم. در این جلسه داستان بیژن و منیژه را خواهیم گفت و نیم نگاهی به رقص بیژن و منیژه هایده و نژاد خواهیم داشت. سپاس از گروه هنری شیبا برای فراهم آوردن این موقعیت.
